Privacy Policy for ThatAICollection.com and Associated Chrome Extensions

Last Updated: October 29, 2025

This Privacy Policy describes how That AI Collection (referred to as "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit our website, thataicollection.com, or use any of our associated software and browser extensions, including the Grokipedia VS Wikipedia Chrome Extension.

We are committed to maintaining your trust and protecting your privacy.

1. Scope of this Policy

This policy applies to all interactions you have with the That AI Collection ecosystem, covering both:

  • The website, thataicollection.com (A Collection of Awesome Generative AI Applications).
  • The browser extension, Grokipedia VS Wikipedia.

2. Open Source Notice

The public content and structure of the thataicollection.com website are automatically synchronized from the publicly accessible GitHub repository, https://github.com/ai-collection/ai-collection. This notice relates to the public data source of the applications displayed and does not relate to any user data collection.

3. Information Collected by the ThatAICollection.com Website

As thataicollection.com is a showcase for AI applications and currently does not require user accounts or logins, we collect minimal user data.

A. Information You Voluntarily Provide

We do not currently collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as names, email addresses, or payment information through registration or user profiles.

B. Usage Data and Analytics

We may use third-party tools (such as common web analytics providers) to gather anonymous, aggregated data on how the website is used. This data helps us understand traffic, popular pages, and technical performance, but it does not identify you individually. This information may include:

  • Browser type and version.
  • Operating system.
  • Referral source.
  • Time and date of visit.

C. Cookies and Tracking

We may use temporary cookies or similar technologies for basic functionality (e.g., ensuring an application remembers a setting during a single session) or for anonymous analytics as described above. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies, but some parts of the website may not function correctly as a result.

4. Information Collected by the "Grokipedia VS Wikipedia" Chrome Extension

The "Grokipedia VS Wikipedia" extension is a single-purpose tool and collects absolutely no Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or sensitive browsing data.

A. Data Collected and Stored (Functional Preference Data)

The only data the extension stores is functional preference data, which is kept locally on your browser using the `chrome.storage.local` API and is never transmitted to us or any external server:

Data PointData TypePurpose of Collection
grokEnabledBoolean (True/False)To remember the user's preference to have the Grokipedia panel displayed or hidden across different tabs and browser sessions.

B. Network Activity (Data Fetching)

The extension performs controlled network requests essential for its core function:

  • Action: When the extension is enabled, the `background.js` Service Worker makes a single fetch request to `https://grokipedia.com/*`.
  • Purpose: This request retrieves the public HTML content (Website content) of the matching Grokipedia entry. This is necessary to display the alternative article side-by-side with Wikipedia.
  • No Data Sent: The extension does not send any personal user data, browsing history, or device information to `grokipedia.com`.

C. Access to Wikipedia Content

The extension's `contentScript.js` runs on Wikipedia pages (`https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/*`) to read the URL and the article title. This is strictly to construct the correct Grokipedia URL and to perform its comparison function. This content is read locally and is not transmitted externally.

5. Data Security and Retention

We take reasonable precautions to protect the limited data we handle.

  • Website Data: Any anonymous usage data is retained only as long as necessary for analytical purposes.
  • Extension Data: The functional preference data is retained on the user's local device until the user clears their browser storage or uninstalls the extension.

6. Children's Privacy

Our website and extension are not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect PII from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.

For changes affecting the Chrome Extension's permissions or data handling, we will follow the Chrome Web Store's update and disclosure process.
