The journey of SmartRecaps started 8 months ago when I was looking for a way to catch up on daily news in under 5 minutes. In my search, I found that singular news outlets were too narrow and going through different outlets would consume too much time. On the other hand, news aggregators were too broad - showing either repeats of the same articles or irrelevant ones.

After not being able to find anything, I came up with the idea for SmartRecaps - a platform that can provide 1-minute recaps for the most important news of any topic. Each recap is generated through finding articles that appear across different publishers and ranking them using custom metrics. AI is then used to sort and display semantically relevant stories.
